WLS Track & Field alumnus Meghan Vogel-McCormick said this year’s scholarship choice was difficult because there were many outstanding applicants.
“Maria’s lift as we climb mentality is the true meaning of what it means to be an athlete and a human. She will do great things because she’s the personification of what it means to be a good sportswoman to her team and people throughout all walks of life, something I think the world could use a bit more of these days.” Presenting the $2,500 scholarship to Maria were Greta Vetter of Wright Construction Group, Inc. and Ann Vogel, WLS Head Coach of Girls Cross Country and Track and Field. West Liberty-Salem’s track and field program celebrated the Class of 2021 at the Tiger Invitational Friday evening.
