​West Liberty-Salem track and field student athletes, Megan Adams, Mallory Bostick and Ashley Yoder received OATCCC Academic All-Ohio honors this weekend at the state track and field meet.

The award is given to student athletes in  grades 10-12, who compete at the state meet and have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field team wrapped up day one of the DIII Southwest District meet at Graham tied fourth place with 11 points.

The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field team wrapped up day one of the DIII Southwest District meet at Graham tied fourth place with 11 points.
 
The Lady Tigers 4x800 relay team (pictured) of Mallory Bostick, Ashley Yoder, Teagan Boyd and Megan Adams were district champions in the event winning with a 10:07.34.  Mandilyn Weaver placed 8th in high jump (4'8").


Qualifiers for Saturday's finals are Sophia Hardwick (17.37) and Alaina Irving (17.45) in the 100 meter hurdles, Delaney Jones in the 100 meter dash (12.70) and 200 meter dash (27.28), Sophia Hardwick (49.66) and Claire Longshore (50.06) in the 300 meter hurdles,  Megan Adams and Ashley Yoder in the 1600 meter run, Mallory Bostick and Ashley Yoder in the 800 meter run, the 4x200 meter relay team of Lilly Weaver, Claire Longshore, Mandilyn Weaver and Sophia Hardwick (1:55.38), the 4x100 relay of Lilly Weaver, Delaney Jones, Alaina Irving and Mallory Bostick (53.03), and the 4x400 relay of Mallory Bostick, Megan Adams, Teagan Boyd and Delaney Jones (4:16.90).
 
Isabella Hardwick had a career PR in shot put (29'5.25") finishing 12th and Kenzie Bahan placed 13th in shot put (29'5).

Tiger freshman Delaney Jones set a new school record in the 100 meter dash, running a 12.49.  Her mark breaks the mark set by Morgan Freyhof in 2015.

WL-S Track & Field Opens 2022 Season at Anna

MS/HS Results
​The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field team opened the season with a third place finish at the Anna Quad meet Tuesday.

Senior Megan Adams led the Tigers winning the 1600 meter run (5:29.6) and 800 meter run (2:30.3). Also grabbing first place finishes were Delaney Jones 100 meter dash (12.91) and the 4x400 relay team of Mallory Bostick, Ashley Yoder, Sophia Hardwick and Adams (4:23.73).

Second place finishes were provided by Sophia Hardwick in the 300 meter hurdles with a personal best of 52.03., Ashley Yoder in the 800 meter run 2:44.23, and Delaney Jones in the 200 meter dash 28.29.

Mallory Bostick had two third place finishes in the 400 meter dash (1:06.19) and 200 meter dash (29.27). Mandilyn Weaver also placed third in high jump (4'08").

Placing fourth were Ashley Yoder in the 1600 meter run (5:53.35) and Taylor Kennedy in the 3200 meter run (13:27.13).

Rounding out the Tiger placers were fifth place finishers Kenzie Bahan in shot put with a personal best (30'05), Teagan Boyd 400 meter dash (1:08.31) and Alaina Irving 100 meter hurdles (18.2).

The Lady Tigers are back in action Monday at the OHC Preview meet hosted by Northeastern.

The boys’ track and field team competed in a quad meet at Anna.

Big Orange Girls Capture 4th Straight Regional Title; Boys Finish Runner-Up

The Big Orange girls cross country team won its fourth consecutive DIII SW Regional title Saturday in Troy. Senior Megan Adams was the individual race champion. The Big Orange girls will compete in the OHSAA DIII State Championship race Saturday, Nov. 6th at 9:00 a.m. at The Fortress in Obetz.  State meet tickets are available at OHSAA.org​
WL-S Boys Cross Country 2021 Regional Runner-Up
​The Big Orange boys cross country team placed second at the DII SW Regional and qualified for this year’s OHSAA state meet.  The boys will race at 1:00 p.m. at The Fortress in Obetz.

Five Tigers Named Academic All-Ohio

Five Tiger Track and Field student athletes were recently named to the OATCCC Academic All-Ohio team. To qualify, student athletes must compete in the state meet and have a 3.5 or better grade point average.  Congratulations to seniors Kaylee LeVan, Grace Estes, Katelyn Stapleton and juniors Megan Adams and Emily Hollar.

Bahan, Stapleton, Adams Named Academic All-Ohio

West Liberty-Salem cross country student athletes, Madison Bahan, Katelyn Stapleton and Megan Adams have been named OATCCC Academic All-Ohioans. To qualify, student athletes must qualify for the OHSAA state meet, be in grades 10-12, and have a accumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.

This is the third consecutive year for Stapleton to earn this honor, and the second consecutive year for Bahan and Adams.

WL-S Girls Cross Country Wins 2020 State Championship!

The West Liberty-Salem girls cross country team capped off an undefeated season, with its first state title in school history Saturday at the OHSAA DIII State Championships at the Fortress Obetz. The Big Orange held off the 4 time defending state champion Minster and state powerhouses Liberty Center and Fort Loramie for the convincing win.

1st WLS 55, 2nd Minster 83, 3rd Liberty Center 115, 4th Fort Loramie 126, 5th Gilmour Academy 163, 6th Mount Gilead 185, 7th Maplewood 224, 8th Mineral Ridge 275, 9th Colonel Crawford 283, 10th Versailles 291, 11th Woodmore 302, 12th Anna 322, 13th Ft. Recovery 323, 14th Ottawa Hills 349, 15th Liberty Union 381, 16th St. Henry 392, 17th Smithville 421, 18th Grandview Heights 432, 19th Cardington-Lincoln 459, 20th Caldwell 479.

Four Big Orange runners earned First Team All-Ohio status with Megan Adams leading the way in 5th place in 18:43. Freshmen Ashley Yoder and Addison McAuley placed 8th and 10th respectively in 18:49 and 18:56, and Katelyn Stapleton placed 18th in 19:20. Madison Bahan earned Second Team All-Ohio placing 31st in 19:30. Rounding out the WLS placers were Taylor Kennedy in 89th place 20:49, and Claire Longshore 127th in 21:51.

Adams and Stapleton have become the first Big Orange athletes to earn All-Ohio in three consecutive years.

The team caps off the season being ranked #3 in all divisions in Ohio and #58 in the nation.

WL-S Girls Indoor Track & Field Team Earns All-Ohio Honors

​The West Liberty-Salem girls indoor track and field team earned All-Ohio honors in two events at Saturday’s OATCCC State Indoor D2/3 State Championships Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva. 

​The 4x800 relay of Megan Adams, Grace Adams, Madison Bahan, and Katelyn Stapleton (pictured) placed third overall in a new indoor school record time of 9:50.93.  Stapleton also earned All-Ohio honors in the 800 meter run placing fourth in a new indoor school record time of 2:20.92.

Tigers Set School Records at Last Indoor Meet of the Season

​The West Liberty-Salem boys and girls track and field teams competed in their last regular meet of the season Sunday at the University of Findlay.
 
On the girls side, the Lady Tigers set two new indoor school records with Kaylee LeVan placing fifth in the long jump (15'7.5"), and the 4x800 relay team of Megan Adams, Grace Adams, Madison Bahan and Katelyn Stapleton placing second (10:02.72).
 
For the boys, the Tigers had three runners place in the 3200 meter run with Dylan Lauck placing third (10:15.34), Josh Spinner fifth (10:24.27), and Tate Yoder sixth (10:25.21). The 4x800 relay team of Lauck, Spinner, Yoder and Noah Smith placed third (8:50.12).
 
Also competing for WLS were Hayden Kennedy (5:08.11) and Owen Harrison (5:16.67) in the 1600 meter run and Garrett Richardson in the 60 meter hurdles (12.15).

Six Big Orange Girls Earn Academic All-Ohio

Six West Liberty-Salem cross country student athletes earned 2019 OATCCC All-Ohio Academic honors at Saturday’s state cross country championships.  To be eligible student athletes grades 10-12 must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average and compete in the state meet.  Earning this recognition for the Big Orange are Grace Adams, Megan Adams, Madison Bahan, Lydia Moell, Katelyn Stapleton and Mandilyn Weaver.

BY BELLEFONTAINE EXAMINER STAFF - HEBRON, OHIO — The machine that is the West Liberty girls track and cross country program engineered another dazzling moment here Saturday morning.

The Big Orange girls cross country squad finished as the state runner-up in the Division III race at National Trail Raceway, capturing their highest state finish in school history. Their previous best state performance was third in 2011.

The Big Orange HS Boys & Girls Cross Country teams won the 46th Max Evans Memorial Ohio Caverns Invitational on Saturday.

The Big Orange MS Girls also claimed a team championship, while the MS Boys finished 2nd of 9 teams.

WL-S Sweeps 2018 Logan County Cross Country Meet

The 2018 Kiwanis Logan County Cross Country Championships were held at Benjamin Logan Tuesday, August 28.

Runners from Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Riverside, Triad, and West Liberty-Salem competed. West Liberty-Salem took home Logan County titles in the High School Boys & Girls races, as well as the Middle School Boys & Girls races.

HEBRON — The Big Orange girls continued to climb the ladder here at the OHSAA Division III state cross country meet.

Made up of mostly underclassmen, West Liberty-Salem’s girls delivered a ninth-place finish out of 20 teams Saturday at National Trail Raceway. The Tigers were ranked fourth in the final state poll.

“Any time you get a top 10 finish at state that is something to be proud of,” said WL-Salem head coach Ann Vogel. [Read More at Examiner.org]
