The Big Orange boys cross country team placed second at the DII SW Regional and qualified for this year’s OHSAA state meet. The boys will race at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6th at The Fortress in Obetz.
Five Tiger Track and Field student athletes were recently named to the OATCCC Academic All-Ohio team. To qualify, student athletes must compete in the state meet and have a 3.5 or better grade point average. Congratulations to seniors Kaylee LeVan, Grace Estes, Katelyn Stapleton and juniors Megan Adams and Emily Hollar.
WLS Track & Field alumnus Meghan Vogel-McCormick said this year’s scholarship choice was difficult because there were many outstanding applicants.
“Maria’s lift as we climb mentality is the true meaning of what it means to be an athlete and a human. She will do great things because she’s the personification of what it means to be a good sportswoman to her team and people throughout all walks of life, something I think the world could use a bit more of these days.” Presenting the $2,500 scholarship to Maria were Greta Vetter of Wright Construction Group, Inc. and Ann Vogel, WLS Head Coach of Girls Cross Country and Track and Field. West Liberty-Salem’s track and field program celebrated the Class of 2021 at the Tiger Invitational Friday evening. West Liberty Salem Track and Field is excited to host a track and field camp this summer with Jones Elite Training. The camp is open to track and field athletes grades 7-12 during the 2021-22 school year. Student athletes from all schools are invited to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!
A camp flyer is available below. Please join us for Born and Raced in West Liberty’s first virtual races! Our love-themed races take place the week of February 7th-February 14th which include a 5K and a One Mile Fun Run for younger runners. Walkers are also welcome to participate. All participants receive a race shirt (designs below), and the proceeds will benefit the West Liberty-Salem Track and Field program.
